At Glow, everything starts from the youth. Youth in different situations in life strengthen their life skills and participation through social circus, theatre and other creative activities. The focus is on growing youth’s self-esteem, courage and social skills by working together. This way, it will be easier for youth to find their place in the world.
The Children and Youth Foundation’s Glow activities focus on strengthening the deep life skills of young people aged 13–29 in different situations in life using creative and active measures.
The goal is to increase youth’s self-esteem, courage and social skills using social circus, theatre or another applied use of arts. Workshops are directed at different youth groups that face a challenge.
The starting point of Glow is the need arising from a group of youth or observed in the youth (for instance, bullying, unemployment, loneliness). The applicant is a community, employee or organisation working with or representing youth.
To increase its influence, multidisciplinary cooperation is at the heart of Glow. The Children and Youth Foundation coordinates the projects and is responsible for selecting the experienced Glow artist instructors. The Glow artist instructor and, depending on the project, a youth worker, social worker and/or different authorities engage in close cooperation during the entire project. We also aim to find local companies to support the activities and build paths leading the youth forwards to make their participation in society easier.
The next Glow application period starts in autumn 2018.
