International Program

FCYF's international program promotes and supports the wellbeing of youth in developing countries. The program is implemented through development cooperation projects in Latin America and Africa with local partner organizations. In 2011 there are seven projects in six different countries.

The international program covers about half of the foundation’s activities. It challenges different actors of the society to take global responsibility on disadvantaged youth. Responsible corporations, communities and their personnel can contribute to the wellbeing of world’s youth and to global development through the program.

The program supports the realization of Finland’s Development Policy and Millennium Development Goals.

The activities focus on three thematic areas. These are

  • work (employment and micro entrepreneurship)
  • citizenship (social participation, democracy, leadership, cultural identity)
  • learning (non-formal, life skills)

Strengthening the life skills of youth is central in all the activities.

Foundation in Responsible Networks

FCYF belongs to the International Youth Foundation's (IYF) Global Partner Network (GPN) among 175 member organizations in 78 countries. Majority of FCYF's local partner organizations belong to the Global Partner Network. The partnerships are built with reliable organizations working among disadvantaged youth and youth issues.

In Finland FCYF coordinates the Development Cooperation Youth Network. FCYF is also a member of the Service Center for Development Cooperation – KEPA.
